Netmeeting, and microsoft internet directory doin my head in?

Have downloaded windows live messenger, 8.1(don`t know whether that matters). when i try to connect through netmeeting to load the microsoft internet directory it says ''The directory server couldnot be found,you may not be connected to the network..etc i`ve only got microsoft internet directory.I`m with orange..if that helps....pc is just about to go out the window....

You might get better answers / an answer if you explain better and use sentences as it is totally non understandable and cannot make out a word.

For the question i think that you have to be part of a network and for netmeeting they all have to be part of the same server or something.
