Does Microsoft Windows get better and better with future releases such as Windows Vista? Could it be

Since microsoft came out with operating systems with Dos and Windows 95,98,2000, ME, etc does the software get better and better? Is it really worth spending around $120 + tax to get the latest windows software every 2-3 years? What should I do with the old windows software laying on my desks? I bought 3 genuine copies of windows xp home edition and now I should upgrade when Windows vista comes out? I think microsoft should come out with upgrades every 10 years cuz they're making my wallet thinner.

Of course, or a better way to say it is that with future releases it gets more stable, secure and able to handle and wider variety of hardware as time passes.

New OS are a necessity as within a few year technology changes so much and people demand different things. Like Vista which is focusing on current trend of home entertainment, home movies, pictures and using TVs in conjuction with Windows.

Yes, it always gets better. But, is it ever enough?
