Keyboard layouts are mixed up,can't use the keyboard, using Microsoft speech recognition program

could any one tell me how to change the keyboard layout, I checked the control panel and went to keyboard it was set to English American my letter M is the 0 my letter P is a * my letter L is a 3 my letter K is a 2 my letter J is a 1 my letter U is a 4, how do I change this back, and by the way. The Microsoft speech recognition has a long way to go and it took 30 minutes to write this if I don't talk like a robot the words come out wrong or in some instances like this it takes forever to write anything I know that in my keyboard layout something is wrong I see the letters with the numbers on them I just don't know how to change it back to what it was, this really sucks. I kind of like the Microsoft speech recognition in some ways even if it has a lot of work to be done to it. If someone could tell me how to change or want a button to push to change it back to normal I would appreciate it it must be some box and I've never used before her entire changing everything in correcting everything so now I will correct anymore since you know my question and let them let you see that the Microsoft speech recognition has a long way to go before Geneva it has words I've never said. Has anyone else tried the speech recognition yet and what did you think about it and does make ideal little easier sometime if he'll have to go back and correct every the first sheet and sentences I had to go back and correct many times because of letters and numbers now I'm speaking freely and see what does that make them my keyboard layout is really not the layout is the fact that pushed some wrong box and messed everything up if you can let me know what I should change it would be helpful but you for your time and you too should try the Microsoft speech recognition program for self and see what you think of it

Make sure you're using the US keyboard (not United States - Dvorak).
